DJI Avata 360 Hands-on Review: What You NEED To Know!

The launch of the DJI Avata 360 marks a paradigm shift in drone cinematography. By combining 360° panoramic capture with AI-powered editing, DJI has introduced a new philosophy: Let the drone handle the flight, and leave the creativity to the user. In this hands-on overview, we dive into the design, performance, and essential gear for this 8K powerhouse.

DJI Avata 360 Setup

1. Design Evolution: Larger, Quieter, Tougher

The DJI Avata 360 is noticeably larger in both width and height than the Avata 2. However, it maintains a slim profile thanks to its redesigned, compact battery system. Notable hardware changes include:

  • Four-Blade Propellers: A shift from three blades to four, resulting in a lower noise frequency during flight.
  • Integrated Full Guards: Robust protection for high-action FPV maneuvers.
  • Rotating Camera Module: The front-mounted dual-camera system can rotate mechanically to protect the bottom lens during takeoff and landing.

2. Imaging Power: Fly First, Frame Later

With top and bottom 360° lenses, the Avata 360 captures full spherical 8K resolution. In post-production via DJI Studio, you can reframe shots freely, creating "impossible moves" like 180° drifts and cinematic orbits that previously required expert manual piloting.

3. Intelligence & Reliability

Signal transmission remains rock solid, even in dense forests or near waterfalls. The drone features front and bottom obstacle sensors, allowing pilots to fly extremely close to subjects with confidence. In the event of a crash, the included lens replacement kit allows for quick on-site repairs.

4. Essential Accessories for the Avata 360

While the standard bundle includes a landing pad and basic maintenance tools, a professional setup requires more dedicated protection.

As the Avata 360 camera module is more prominent, the following accessories are highly recommended:

  • Hard Carrying Cases: A high-capacity storage solution is the #1 priority to protect the dual-lens system and organize the RC 2 and Goggles.
  • DJI RC 2 Protection: Since many pilots prefer the RC 2 for this drone, tempered glass and sun hoods are essential for outdoor visibility.
  • High-Speed V30 SD Cards: Required to handle the massive 8K data bitrate.

AeroFocus Note: We are currently finalizing our STARTRC specialized carrying case and protection line for the Avata 360. Stay tuned for the official launch!

Final Thoughts

The DJI Avata 360 is not just an upgrade; it's a paradigm shift. By offloading complex camera movements to post-processing, DJI lowers the barrier for achieving professional-grade cinematic footage. Fly simple. Create limitless.
